RESOLUTION 2-2010

 

A resolution requesting Senator Randy McNally and Representative Jim Hackworth

to sponsor legislation before the General Assembly that amends in its entirety

Chapter 566 of the Private Acts 1949; Chapter 63 of the Private Acts of 1963;

Chapter 251 of the Private Acts of 1970; Chapter 104 of the Private Acts of 1979;

Chapter 128 of the Private Acts of 1983; and Chapter 26 of the Private Acts of 2001.

 

WHEREAS,   the city of Norris was incorporated under Chapter 566 of the Private Acts of 1949; and

 

WHEREAS,   the city of Norris has never amended its charter in its entirety; and

 

WHEREAS,   the city of Norris wishes to update and amend the charter in its entirety.

 

 

BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NORRIS, TENNESSEE that the city council requests that Senator Randy McNally and Representative Jim Hackworth sponsor legislation before the General Assembly that amends in its entirety Chapter 566 of the Private Acts 1949; Chapter 63 of the Private Acts of 1963; Chapter 251 of the Private Acts of 1970; Chapter 104 of the Private Acts of 1979; Chapter 128 of the Private Acts of 1983; and Chapter 26 of the Private Acts of 2001; and any other acts amendatory thereto.

 

Section 1.         The proposed charter, in its entirety with revisions, is attached.

 

Section 2.         This act shall have no effect unless it is approved by a two-thirds (2/3) vote of the legislative body of the city of Norris.  Its approval or non-approval shall be proclaimed by the presiding officer of the city of Norris and certified to the Secretary of State.

 

Section 3.         For the purpose of approving or rejecting the provisions of this act, it shall be effective upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.  For all other purposes, it shall become effective as provided in Section 2.
