Norris Planning Minutes
February 2, 2015
the Norris Planning Commission meeting, held in the Council Room of the Norris Community Building, 20 Chestnut Drive.
Members Present: Mrs. Joy Wilson, Chris Mitchell, Jack Black, John
Barker, Matt Zorvan, Chairman Jeff Merritt
Public Present: City Planning Adviser - Dan Hawk, Joe Deatherage
and Jim Tomlinson
I. Call to Order:
Chairman Merritt called meeting to order at 5:00 pm.
Hear the Public: No Member of the Public Spoke
Minutes - January 5, 2015: Chairman Merritt asked for corrections or comments on the January 2015 minutes. With
no corrections or comments, Chairman Merritt asked for a motion to approve as submitted. Mr. Zorvan made motion to approve
as submitted, Mr. Black seconded. All voted unanimously to approve.
Chairman Merritt introduced and welcomed the newest member, John Barker to the Norris Planning Commission.
Mr. Black asked to make a few comments and updates before proceeding to New Business. Mr. Black who is a member of the
Anderson County Economic Development Association, committed that 3-M has plans to open a large portion of the closed Food
Lion Warehouse area. Mr. Black also announced that development plans for Rocky Top are still in the works and moving
IV. New Business:
1. Training session - Norris Subdivision Regulations: BZA members, Jim Tomlinson and Joe Deatherage joined the
above Planning Commission members for the training session. Chairman Merritt turned the floor over to Planning Advisor
Dan Hawk. The session lasted for (1) one hour.
No old Business
was brought forward.
Chairman Merritt asked for a motion to adjourn. Mrs. Wilson made motion to adjourn, Mr. Zorvan seconded. All
voted unanimously to adjourn.
